iSound Performing Art’s mission is to enhance the talents and life skills of youth within the Greater Sacramento community. We endeavor to provide alternative and positive activities that will deter negative thinking, gang violence, and bullying. We are committed to empowering youth to be extraordinary in the arts.
Our Classes
Performing Arts Choir
One of our premier classes will be the iSOUND Choir. This high energy, fast paced choir will knock your socks off with fun! Students will learn proper breathing, posture, and vocal technique as well as choreography designed for show choirs. The group’s repertoire includes gospel, Broadway and pop songs, as well as traditional choral pieces. Members receive one hour of vocal rehearsal and one hour of dance/choreography class per week in working to produce their original showcase. This ensemble takes part in public performances at holiday time, spring and summer, and at various community and church events.
Members are required to attend all rehearsals and performances. Students who cannot make such a commitment need not audition. Members are responsible for basic performance attire as well as with the help of grants and donations.
iSOUND Studio Production
This class is designed to prepare tomorrow’s audio professionals, the training starts from square one. No previous experience is required, yet even students with background will find this program challenging and very beneficial. Musicians or non-musicians, younger or older, a wide spectrum of participants can accelerate their careers with this class.
The program provides our students with a powerful combination of lectures and studio experience. And it is in the studio where Recording Workshop students spend the majority of their time.
The studio classes are taught to small groups of 6 or 10 students, allowing much personal attention. After some preparation in equipment operation, the studio work progresses to recording sessions in just one month. And although recording and mixing music is the main activity, our students also broaden their studio skills in other important areas of audio engineering such as editing, radio spot and sound-for-picture production. The daily lectures in this program are stimulating, informative and presented with great style. The atmosphere is friendly and very open to questions and discussions. Initially, these lectures cover the fundamentals of recording equipment design and operation, but they soon advance to a very broad range of music industry topics.
iSOUND Drama Class
iSOUND Drama Department is designed to open to all students who wish to explore, and expand their speaking, acting and auditioning skills. This will build confidence and enhances early social skills and creative learning. Our Drama Instructors make sure all students feel comfortable and recognized so they will stretch and grow in a very positive environment. New scenes and activities are held in each class. Don’t miss the fun!
Our Acting Academy is an excellent way for middle and high school students to explore and expand their acting and auditioning skills through our accelerating drama activities and performances.
iSOUND Piano Class
I Sound Piano Class is designed to Unleash the ‘pianist’ in your child and stimulate their creative side in this 3-level ‘play-as-you-learn’ progressive course.
Beginners establish good practice habits learning songs, accelerating their theory grasp with musical games and assignments, and generating improved performance through in-class participation as they conquer their dream of ‘tickling the ivories.’
Continuing students enrich their skills with scales, advanced harmonies, mastering musical symbols and developing good eye/hand coordination while playing music of all types.
